Women of the world, hailing from every culture and nation, are invited to take part in WE. They include high-profile figures from literature and science, art and politics, business and communications, who will be invited to become WE Ambassadors, to spread and testify to the importance of building a network, in a single, great WE, “us”.

Women and food: how can women make the difference?

Women make the difference because they can organize themselves and create a “system”: helping a woman consequently means helping a community.

Is it true that women know how to network and work together towards common objectives?

Women know how to network… and the project The Circle, set up by Annie Lennox in 2008, is a great example of creating a team to bring about change. The Circle is a project for helping less fortunate women in the world. It was set up by women from all kinds of different backgrounds who contribute ideas, relations and professional services with energy and enthusiasm in order to support the Oxfam project and promote fundraising, communication and awareness.

On the subjects of sustainability and nutrition, what is the key theme for women; greater access to economic resources, the right to education, power and equality in politics?

The key issue is undoubtedly greater access to economic resources given that in countries affected by extreme poverty women form over 60% of the workforce despite being paid 30% less than men. Another crucial element is the right to education seeing that 70% of young girls are still not permitted to access to education. The fight against female illiteracy would surely pave the way towards empowerment

What is your favourite dish/recipe?

My favourite dish is anything that involves rice: simple, universal and extremely versatile.

There is a culture of nourishment that passes down through women. Share with us a memory of yourself, your family or your country, that is linked to food.

A recipe for feeding the Planet has to begin with sowing seeds: creating allotments everywhere, even in cities, fighting the phenomenon of land grabbing and choosing locally sourced products.
